My name is Manna Zel.
A first-generation Ethiopian-American, I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Being first-gen means that I was raised in both Ethiopian and American cultures, and I live my life in the in-between. Besides my place of permanent residence in the in-between, I currently study journalism in Los Angeles, California.
If you know me, you know that I am passionate about a number of things. Words, music, black women’s rights, women’s rights, serving others, natural hair… the list goes on and on. Earth to Manna is a blog/online portfolio through which I look forward to sharing my writing with the world. A phrase I heard over and over growing up, the words Earth to Manna are a personal reminder that there is more to see and more to be done in the world. Life does not begin and end in our individuality; rather it finds its being in our unity as inhabitants of the Earth.
